Planetary Resilience & Magnetosphere Protection

Earth-L1 Artificial Magnetosphere via High-Temperature Superconducting Systems

PROJECT SHIELD L1 – submitted to SpaceX Advanced Concepts Division, 14 Jan 2026. Now formally integrated as the chronological precursor to all off-world expansion.

Inter-Planetary Link Ship Limited • Guildford, Surrey, UK

1. Purpose (IPLS-2.0-PS-001)

To establish a fail-operational, operator-controlled artificial magnetosphere at the Earth-L1 Lagrange point that protects the launch-pad planet from geomagnetic field collapse, reversed-flux-patch dynamics, and Carrington-level solar events, thereby preserving biological, post-biological, and digital life while the asteroid-mining sequence (3.1) and interstellar expansion proceed.

2. Core Functional Requirements

  • High-temperature superconducting coil array deployed at L1, powered by dedicated PGEDS-v1 substrate (multi-PW burst capability, triple-redundant failover).
  • Full integration with IPLS-RSS-v1 hybrid magnetic shielding technology (active mini-magnetosphere scaled to planetary level).
  • PIS-v1 universal interface hardpoints for all L1 station modules, hot-swappable in zero-g.
  • Continuous real-time monitoring of IGRF-13/14 secular variation, reversed-flux-patch dynamics, and low-latitude plasma penetration (using the 450-reference corpus and ESA Swarm data 2020–2025).
  • Operator command authority retained at every tier — explicit human/post-biological/ASI veto and ethical kill-switch (Section 5.1).
  • TSP-v1 supersession protocol pre-engineered for future coil or power upgrades without decommissioning.
  • Design lifetime ≥500 years with graceful degradation and ISRU/SRS-v1 self-repair compatibility.

3. Interfaces & Cross-References

  • IPLS-RSS-v1 • PGEDS-v1 • PIS-v1 • TSP-v1 • SRS-v1 • Ethical Frameworks 5.1 • Founder Personal Sustainability Protocol 7.3

4. Escalation Status (19 May 2026)

8 weeks since hard-copy package hand-delivered to SpaceX Advanced Concepts Division via UPS (received ~21 March 2026). Formal escalation protocol (IPLS-2.0-PS-002) is now active and logged in Section 7.0.
